Humble Beginnings

I was close by my very first apartment earlier so I decided to drive through my old stumping ground, from 2001-2004 this was the townhouse we lived in after sleeping in the living room of my friends apartment for three months. Being there brought back so many memories, some great and some not so great. This is where I gave birth to my first business Expressions of Beauty. I hustled like hell to keep the rent paid, lights on and food on our table. You see, this was a place that signified independence for me after having my new Honda Accord repocessed and waiting for my divorce to be finalized. I had a point to prove to myself and I refused to accept handouts. I worked for everything I wanted and chose the life I wanted to live with my daughter. I remember I prayed every night until I was able to buy my first home; I even had a picture of a brick front split level home on my refrigerator, not realizing until months later that I pretty much bought the exact same model of home. There were days when I didn't know how we would make it but each and every time God would send an angel my way; some as clients, some as friends and sometimes family members.  My favorite bible quotes were Hebrews 13:5, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee and John 4:4, Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I engraved these words on my heart as I faced the world each day.

All I can do is say thank you God for humble beginnings, for they have surely made me the woman that I am on this day. As I move into this season of "newness" I'm filled with gratitude and excitement to share the beauty of my business journey and life with the world.  #1111 #NewBeginnings
