Meatless Monday

I thoroughly enjoyed my teriyaki veggie burger, seasoned sweet potato fries and a huge bottle of alkaline water for lunch

Meatless Monday has really been fun for me; throughout my life I've never been a heavy "meat eater", today my diet fluctuates between 80% Pescitarian and 20% vegetarian and on occasion, vegan. One day I'll make a full commitment but until then, this is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Of course there are some benefits that I enjoy and of course want to share them with you guys.

Benefits

  • - cutting out meat just once a week can drastically decrease your risk for heart disease by up to 19%
  • - decrease your risk of cancer
  • - it's a great health conscious way to start your week
  • - consuming less calories
  • - you'll feel accomplished and healthier
  • - you'll save a few dollars

Who's joining the Meatless Monday Movement?

If you're interested, simply plan ahead! Don't want to commit to a full day, start with one meal! Whatever you do start somewhere :-)

What a beautiful little surprise

I was out and about on yesterday at the lake enjoying the lovely and unpredictable December Georgia weather and decided to take a selfie. I took a few more, trying to get a better shot, I actually thought that the sun was glaring or my camera lens needed to be cleaned; I looked a little closer and realized that my aura was shining in the first photograph I took...

So, what is an aura and how do you get it? Those were a couple of the questions I pondered when I first started learning about energy, reiki and chakras, so I thought I'd address them for anyone else who may be curious or wondering the same thing.

First off, everyone has an aura, its not something for selected individuals

Google Definition
AURA- a supposed emanation surrounding the body of a living creature, viewed by mystics, spiritualists, and some practitioners of complementary medicine as the essence of the individual, and allegedly discernible by people with special sensibilities.

Text Book Definition
AURA- Metamolecular space around a plant, animal or human body or a haze that surrounds the human body. It has also been described as a very subtle form of matter or a vital force that radiates and lies at the base of all manifested life.

Below is an aura color chart. There are a lot more colors but this is a pretty simple and straight forward chart for beginners.

I'd say my photograph was definitely on track with the aura color chart.

Has anyone else ever noticed the color of their aura or someone else's in a photograph or in person. What was that experience like for you?

Operation Curve Appeal Begins

20-15 was the warm up, game time in 20-16!

What a difference a year can make... Operation Curve Appeal is the Mind, body and spirit connection.

I took my before pic Labor Day 2014. I went to my OBGYN earlier that week and was informed that I weighed 172 pounds (the largest I've ever been), we discussed the fact that I've never been hospitalized (besides child birth), great blood pressure and glycemic and then she mentioned I had 3 small fibroid tumors growing inside of my uterus... She said it so nonchalantly that it pissed me off, she also mentioned that over 85% of African American women over the age of 35 develop fibroid tumors and suggested that I schedule an appointment to have them removed. I declined...

So, what I learned after I got home was...
a) although I was/am a pretty health conscious individual, you still have to be aware of what's going on with and inside your body. I use doctors for their technology and equipment

b) food choices, herbs, meditation and fitness are game changers when it comes to shifting and maintaining good health

c) that I was going to heal myself and transform my body

Well that's exactly what I've done, actually in about 7 months I've released 14 pounds and my fibroid tumors are GONE, did you hear me GONE...

Sooo, Operation Curve Appeal is just the beginning of a beautiful and POWERFUL journey, I'd love to help a limited number of women do the same! Inbox or DM me if you're serious about transforming your health and body in 20-16 #getinthezone #healthyisthenewsexy #operationcurveappeal

I'm in pure bliss right now!

I'm in pure bliss...being able to watch my vision come to life and become the woman God called me to be has been a priceless journey. I have wanted to quit and give up numerous times but during my quite time the whisper wouldn't allow me to turn back...

I've always had an intense desire to help other people, (particularly women) to be their best version of themselves and live successful, balanced lives filled with good health, love and laughter; the one thing I didn't know is that I would have to become that in which I desired to help others be, do and have; in other words I had to get my own ish together first lol. And now, here I am five years later... I'm honored that God chose me and thankful to have the opportunity to serve women around the world.

So, my question to you is what's in your heart? What's the one thing that won't let you rest in the middle of the night?  What are you going to do about it? Don't wait until next year, don't procrastinate any longer, take baby steps if you have to.

10 Ways Chlorophyll Can Change Your Life

10 Ways Chlorophyll Can Change Your Life

Chlorophyll is the natural green pigment found in plants, which plays a key role in the process of photosynthesis. But did you know it is also a superfood? Naturopaths advocate taking liquid chlorophyll as a daily supplement for its health-giving properties, which can help with a wide range of conditions.

1. Weight Loss

Studies have shown that foods containing chlorophyll can help to control hunger and regulate blood sugar levels. Scientists also claim that chlorophyll contains lipolytic enzymes, which help to break down trapped fat cells, allowing them to be burned away during exercise.

2. Cancer
Chlorophyll acts as a natural detoxifier to block and eliminate cancer-causing toxins from your body. Low levels of dietary chlorophyll have been linked with an increased risk of colon cancer, and evidence suggests that eating plenty of chlorophyll-rich green leafy vegetables is the key to colon health.

3. Aging

Want to look and feel younger? Evidence suggests that drinking chlorophyll water can help to keep your skin looking healthy and radiant. Modern lifestyles cause us to become internally polluted by an accumulation of toxins that enter our bodies through food, water and the air. Chlorophyll helps to banish these toxins and free radicals that cause premature aging.

4. Wounds

Chlorophyll has impressive wound-healing properties, thanks to its ability to strengthen tissues and prevent the growth of bacteria. Liquid chlorophyll is a rich source of antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, which are vital for skin health and help to repair damaged cells.

5. Anemia

With a similar structure to hemoglobin, chlorophyll has the ability to build red blood cells and increase oxygenation of the blood. As well as boosting our energy and immune system, this can be useful as a natural method to treat iron-deficiency anemia.

6. Bad Breath

Chlorophyll is a natural ‘internal deodorant’, which can help to mask bad breath and other bodily odors. Drinking liquid chlorophyll helps to detoxify the body by cleansing toxins from within. As well as eliminating odors in the mouth, it encourages a healthy digestive tract – which is usually the main source of bad breath.

7. Arthritis

Chlorophyll has strong anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to ease the symptoms of arthritis. It has the ability to eliminate accumulated heavy metals – such as mercury – from the joints. Acidity exacerbates arthritic pain, so taking chlorophyll can offer relief by helping to naturally rebalance the pH of the body.

8. Digestive Problems

As a natural detoxifier, chlorophyll helps to remove toxins ingested through food, as well as cleansing the body of existing toxins stored in cells. This can help to bring relief to a range of inflammatory digestive disorders, such as IBS, colitis and constipation. By restoring the acid-alkali balance, chlorophyll also prevents the growth of yeasts and internal bacteria living in the gut.

9. Insomnia

As well as detoxifying the body, chlorophyll is nature’s little helper when it comes to beating stress and insomnia. Studies have shown that eating chlorophyll-rich green leafy vegetables can help to relax the body and promote sleep – something that is so vital to our overall physical and mental wellbeing.

10. Colds

Feel a cold coming on? Stop it in its tracks by drinking liquid chlorophyll. As a natural immune booster, chlorophyll helps to fight infections, such as coughs and colds. Packed with nutrients, it helps to strengthen and alkalize your body – making it more difficult for germs to survive.

A journey of 1000 miles begins with one step

Its a new day and a new week. I have made a vow that I will embrace the "newness" of this year and season with open arms. Its no secret that I am fascinated by nature and enjoy the refreshing energy that comes along with being outside. Well, this year I'm exploring new territory, I took a trip to the lake on yesterday and made a few discoveries. I noticed a nice little area where I'll be sneaking off to for sunrise meditation by the lake.  I believe this trail and lake is just what the doctor ordered.

Sending lots of love and sunshine your way!

XOXO,

The Green Goddess

10 Tips to Detox Your Way to a Sexier You!

With more toxins in our environment than ever, experts recommend the average healthy person should detox around once a year. Follow these top tips to detox your way to a healthier, slimmer and sexier you!
1. Alkaline Diet
This helps to rid the body of toxins while rebalancing its pH level, in order to counteract the negative effects of an overly acidic diet. Modern diets tend to be based around acid-producing foods that imbalance the natural pH of the body, which makes us feel sluggish and unwell. By switching to alkaline-producing foods, such as green leafy vegetables, you can help to restore this natural balance. As well as making you feel healthier, this will encourage your body to release excess fat – so those unwanted pounds will drop off!

2. Parasite Cleanse
Did you know around half of all Americans have parasites living within their intestines? When the delicate balance of your internal bacteria is upset, parasites have a rich breeding ground in which to flourish – causing a range of digestive problems, fatigue and other symptoms. A Parasite Cleanse uses healthy fasting to eliminate the sugars and grains that encourage the growth of parasites, while boosting the ‘good bacteria’ in your gut.

3. Milk Thistle
It’s thought that around half of middle-aged Americans may have ‘fatty liver disease’, a condition often caused by excess alcohol, poor diet or exposure to toxins. The herbal supplement Milk Thistle has been used as a liver detoxifier for thousands of years, thanks to its natural active ingredient silymarin. Usually taken in capsule form, milk thistle can also help to lower cholesterol.

4. Dandelion Root
We all know we should be drinking less caffeine, soda and alcohol. Drinking dandelion tea helps to reduce bloating, purify the blood and naturally detoxify the liver. It can also help with weight-loss, and is an excellent low-calorie, caffeine-free alternative to coffee.

5. Hold That Salt
The average American consumes around 50% more salt than the recommended daily intake. Too much salt increases your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and strokes. Reducing the amount you add to meals isn’t enough, as around three-quarters of our salt intake comes from products such as bread, convenience meals and store-bought sauces. Switch to low-sodium options where possible, and use black pepper and spices for added flavor.

6. Drink Up
We’ve heard it before, but drinking plenty of pure water is key to any successful detox plan. Ideally, you should aim to drink around 2 liters of water every day. Not only will this help to keep your body and skin hydrated, it will also flush those toxins right through your system.

7. Give Up
Quit that smoking habit and your body will start to reap the benefits in just 20 minutes. There’s nothing sexy about stale cigarette breath or nicotine-stained fingers. Giving up smoking is the single best way to detox your life overnight.

8. Love Garlic?
Garlic is a natural detoxifier, which helps to eliminate the accumulation of heavy metals within the body. Eating a clove of raw garlic every day will also help to strengthen your immune system, lower blood pressure and eliminate nasty free radicals.

9. Reduce Stress
Did you know that stress can lead to excess weight gain? When the body is stressed it produces cortisol, known as the ‘stress hormone’. As well as lowering your immunity against infections, increased levels of cortisol also encourages your body to store extra fat. Making time for relaxation is vital to curb daily stress and limit its physical impact on your body.

10. Get Moving!
While relaxation is certainly important, we should all aim to incorporate around 30 minutes of physical activity into our daily routine. This doesn’t need to involve a treadmill or a gym membership – brisk walking, dancing and even housework all count toward your daily exercise. As well as shaking off those extra pounds, this will boost your circulation and get your skin glowing with healthy radiance!

Happy MLK Day!

Happy MLK Day! Dr.King stood for LOVE, PEACE, EQUALITY and UNITY. Legacy and history starts with us as leaders, parents, teachers; etc. When I was growing up I was blessed to witness and experience the great works and legacy of my grandparents and other community leaders. They stood up for what they believed in, reached back to help those less fortunate and empowered those that were once in the dark.
I hear some people say that the kids these days are lost; however I'd like to challenge my generation to give of yourself, stand in your truth and show them the light! How can the kids know their truth if all they are exposed to is lies! Fancy houses, toys, cars and bags are not the truth. Dig deeper and lets get back to whats important... Fathers being in the home and showing their sons how to be respectful loyal real men and Mothers showing their daughters how to cook and be virtuous young ladies all while reaching out to the less fortunate. Unfortunately a lot of kids are just as miserable as their parents are; its time to heal and do some damage control from the dysfunction; IT STARTS WITH YOU, DO YOUR PART!!!! XOXO THE GREEN GODDESS
